Simple Recycling - Clothing and Textiles
Simple Recycling offers free collection of textiles and household goods. Items that are worn, stained, or torn can be recycled if they are clean and dry. For a complete list of acceptable items, see www.simplerecycling.com. Acceptable items (partial list):
Clothing, shoes, handbags, towels, pillows
Pots, pans, dishes, silverware
Linens such as bedding, tablecloths, towels, pillows, curtains
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell was founded in 1991 with a goal of eliminating poverty housing for low-income residents in the Greater Lowell area. We have built 51 homes for low-income families all over the area and are beginning our next build in Concord, MA this fall, 2022. Our critical home repair program provides repairs to low-income homeowners throughout our area, to date 77 homeowners have been helped. Our ReStore, located at 100 Chelmsford Road, Billerica, sells new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Acceptable items:
Furniture that is new or gently used
Upholstered items free of stains, rips, or tears
Shred it – Paper Shredding
Chelmsford Residents only; proof of residency required. Their mission is to protect confidential information. Acceptable items:
Confidential documents ONLY such as tax documents, insurance information, bills, and health records
Bay State Book Company – Used books
Their goal is to keep as many books out of landfills as possible. Acceptable items:
All soft and hard covered books
Textbooks
Encyclopedias
CDs and DVDs
The Bike Connector – Used bicycles and Parts
The Bike Connector is a non-profit, 100% volunteer-run, community-based program that offers a “Do It Together” bike repair workshop, affordable bicycles, and hands-on educational programming. They collaborate with community partners to distribute and maintain bikes throughout greater Lowell. Acceptable items:
Bicycles that are “serviceable” – no bent frames or stuck seat posts
Bicycle parts – spare parts and components, including tubes, tires, wheels, chains, pedals, saddles, kickstands, racks, and handlebars
Bicycle Accessories – helmets (new only), tire pumps, chains for locks, gloves,
Tools – general hand tools and specialized bike tools
Sports Madness Limited - Used Sports Equipment
Collects new and used sporting goods for all sports; located in Dracut. Acceptable items:
Skates
Baseball and Softball gloves
Newer skis and Snowboards and Boots
Town of Chelmsford - Batteries and Light Bulbs.
Acceptable items:
Single use, rechargeable batteries, button batteries
Fluorescent (straight, U shaped, round) bulbs
Neon bulbs
Mercury thermometers and thermostats
The Chelmsford Food Pantry, located behind the Town Office, adjacent to the ball fields, is a resource for anyone who needs it. Non-perishable food will be collected but not limited to the following:
Pasta and Pasta Sauce
Canned tuna, chicken
Canned veggies
Cold Cereal
Oatmeal
Peanut Butter
Rice
Brownie and Cakes mixes
Canned fruit
Coffee and Tea
